HUH? WHAT IS THIS?

This is what we do: We enable adults to determine whether a movie is appropriate for them or their children, according to their own criteria. Unlike the MPAA we do not assign an inscrutable rating based on age but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY , VIOLENCE/GORE & LANGUAGE, on a scale of 0 to 10, and we explain in detail why a film rates high or low in a specific category; we also include instances of SUBSTANCE USE, a thorough list of DISCUSSION TOPICS that may elicit questions from children, and the MESSAGE the film conveys. Since our system is based on objective standards, not the viewer’s age or the artistic merits of a film, we enable adults to determine whether a movie is appropriate for their own children… | more |

Parenting in a Digital World

Parenting is hectic and time-consuming and keeping up with the fast-paced Internet and the plethora of content available is too much of a job for one person. Our community is designed to ease that burden by providing parents a single place to get peace of mind about the content their kids are consuming. It is easy for a child to be manipulated by an algorithm and it is a parents responsibility to be aware of what their children are seeing.

Parenting is one of if not the single largest responsibility you can take on in life. It takes time, energy, and dedication. In this world there are many influences you don’t want your kids to have. With entertainers constantly pushing boundaries it would be difficult to go through a day as an adult without coming across at least one thing you wouldn’t want your children exposed to. But how do you keep these influences away from your children? You cannot be there every second of every day; and even if you could, that would hardly be beneficial for your child.

There are many areas of modern technology with snares for the unwary. TV, Movies and video games are clearly something that you as a parent should be involved with your child on. You should know what they are watching and playing; you should know what the ratings for those things are; and you should have a clearly defined boundary between what is acceptable and what is not. For TV, a V chip can help. For movies and video games, there are organizations whose sole purpose is educating parents on the contents of new releases. They have a comprehensive set of ratings for both movies and video games that will let you know whether a given game or movie is suitable for your children.

In addition, we strive to help you sort through the latest family entertainment and  social media . We are your online family resource for  parents movie reviews ,  movie ratings for families ,  video game ratings and parental advisory information.

But in the 21st century, there are many more avenues for malignant influences to reach your children. While both cell phones and the internet are invaluable tools for staying connected; they both have pitfalls for a child. Thankfully, there are internet filters that you can set up on your computer to limit the sites your children can access. That means your fourteen year old son can catch up on the latest sports headlines, but he won’t be looking up centerfolds. The options on these filters include the ability to set up reports on your children’s browsing habits, or send you an email when they try to access a site they aren’t allowed on. They can even be set to shut down internet access after a certain time of night.

Major cell phone companies have robust parental controls on phones as well. You can block numbers from your children’s phones, set them to shut off at a certain time of night, and even activate emergency tracking on the phone to help find a lost child. And that brings us to another great new parenting invention: GPS. You can get a GPS device that your child carries around with them so that you know where they are. This can provide great peace of mind for any parent who takes their children to busy public places. It only takes a moment turned the wrong way for a child to get lost, but with GPS they can be easily found again.

Parenting responsibilities begin long before TV, movies, cell phones, video games, or even the internet are of any interest to your child however. From birth, your child needs to be fed, nurtured, supported, cared for, oh and fed… From the moment they are born, we try to protect our children from harm, and baby safety is at the forefront of any good parent’s mind.

Why do we spend so much time thinking about baby safety? Babies are fragile, that’s why! When they are born, babies can’t even hold their own head up. They weigh a meager handful of pounds, can’t see past 18 inches, and are utterly defenseless. As our children grow, it always seems that their ability to get into trouble constantly outpaces their ability to judge what constitutes a bad idea. Our job as parents is to help steer them away from the worst ideas, the ones that could seriously injure them.

As parents, we want to provide our babies with the best things possible, whether it is food, baby toys, education, or baby bedding. It’s a competitive world, and any edge you can give your children, you want for them. In many cases it goes beyond a simple edge though. High quality baby bedding has been shown to reduce incidence of sleeping problems in infants, including SIDS.

Other pieces of baby gear can be equally important to keeping a young child safe. Humidifiers are invaluable aids if your baby catches a cough (and at some point, they will). Organic toys ensure that your baby isn’t coming into contact with lead based paints or other toxic chemicals. Safety latches and gates keep your baby out of areas of the home that could harm them. We have them all here, at prices that can’t be beat.

ESRB ratings provide information about what’s in a game or app so parents and consumers can make informed choices about which games are right for their family. Ratings have 3 parts: Rating Categories, Content Descriptors, and Interactive Elements.

About the ESRB

Our primary mission is to help parents make informed decisions about the video games and apps their children play. Our Advertising Review Council actively enforces industry-adopted advertising guidelines, and our Privacy Certified program helps ensure responsible web and mobile privacy practices.

  • Rating Summary

Rating categories suggest age appropriateness.

Content Descriptors indicate content that may have triggered a particular rating and/or may be of interest or concern.

Interactive Elements  highlight interactive or online features that may be of interest or concern but do not influence the rating assignment of a product. This includes users’ ability to interact with each other, the sharing of users’ location with other users, if purchases of digital goods or services are offered, and/or if unrestricted internet access is provided.

Rating Summaries are assigned to many physical games and provide more detailed information about the content in a game and its context. You can find rating summaries when you conduct a ratings search on this site or download our mobile app.

Tools for Parents

ESRB ratings make it easy for parents to get informed about the video games their kids play, but there’s more parents can do to stay involved and up to date. Learn how to set parental controls, manage your kids’ gameplay experiences using our Family Gaming Guide, download the ESRB mobile app, and more.

Did You Know?

67% of the ESRB ratings assigned to physical and console downloadable video games in 2022 were either E (Everyone) or E10+ (Everyone 10+).

84% of parents who purchase physical video games for their children are aware of ESRB ratings and 74% regularly check them before buying a game. (Source: Hart Research Associates, 2022)

Most parents consider each part (Rating Category, Content Descriptors, Interactive Elements) of the ESRB rating system to be either “very” or “extremely” important when deciding if a game or app is appropriate for their kids. (Source: Hart Research Associates, 2022)

Industry guidelines, which are enforced by the ESRB, prohibit the inappropriate target marketing of Mature-rated games.

ESRB has an enforcement system which allows for the imposition of sanctions, fines (including fines up to $1 million), and corrective actions on publishers for non-compliance with its guidelines.

According to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission 87% of kids under the age of 17 are turned away when trying to buy an M-rated game at retail.

The late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia wrote: “This [ESRB rating] system does much to ensure that minors cannot purchase seriously violent games on their own, and that parents who care about the matter can readily evaluate the games their children bring home.”

The E (Everyone) rating was originally called K-A (Kids to Adults) but was changed in 1998.

The ESRB rating system has three parts – Rating Categories, Content Descriptors and Interactive Elements, the latter of which were introduced in 2013.

Introduced in 2008, Rating Summaries provide greater detail about the content in physical games rated by the ESRB, and are exclusively available on this website or the ESRB mobile app by conducting a title search.

ESRB uses more than 30 different Content Descriptors to help communicate what’s in a game.

The FTC considers the ESRB to have “the strongest self-regulatory code” among media rating systems in the U.S. and has confirmed that retailers maintain a high store policy compliance rate.

Founded in 2013 by many of the world’s leading video game rating authorities, the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) administers the first globally streamlined age classification process for digital games and mobile apps that respects the unique cultural norms of each region.

In 1999 ESRB Privacy Online (now called ESRB Privacy Certified) launched its certification program and was sanctioned by the FTC as a “Safe Harbor” under Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

More than 70% of parents would be more comfortable allowing their children to download and play a game certified by ESRB Privacy Certified (Source: Hart Research Associates, 2018).

It’s never too late to have “the conversation” with your kids about what, when, and how they can play!

Activating parental controls on your children’s video game devices helps you enforce house rules, such as limiting play time, blocking games with certain ESRB ratings, and managing in-game spending.

The average gamer is 33 years old.

How To Find Age Ratings For Books [Critic’s Perspective]

Introduction.

Age ratings are an important tool for parents and guardians to help them choose appropriate books for their children. Age ratings help parents and guardians quickly identify books that are suitable for their child’s age and maturity level. They can also provide guidance on the content of the book, such as whether it contains topics that may be suitable for a certain age group. With the right information, parents and guardians can ensure that their children are reading age-appropriate material.

What Are Age Ratings?

Age ratings are an important tool for parents and caregivers when selecting books for children. They are designed to provide guidance on the age-appropriateness of a book’s content. Age ratings can help parents and caregivers make informed decisions about what books are suitable for their child’s age and maturity level.

Age ratings are typically assigned to books by the publisher, author, or a third-party organization. The ratings are based on a variety of factors, including the book’s content, language, and themes. Age ratings can range from “all ages” to “18+”. The ratings are typically organized into age brackets, such as “ages 0-5”, “ages 6-10”, “ages 11-14”, and “ages 15+”.

Age ratings are not meant to be a substitute for parental judgment. Parents should still read the book themselves or talk to their child’s teacher or librarian to get a better understanding of the book’s content. Age ratings are simply a tool to help parents make informed decisions about what books are appropriate for their child.

Age ratings are also not meant to be a definitive guide. Every child is different, and what is appropriate for one child may not be appropriate for another. It is important to consider the individual child’s maturity level, interests, and needs when selecting books.

Age ratings are an important tool for parents and caregivers when selecting books for children. They provide guidance on the age-appropriateness of a book’s content and can help parents make informed decisions about what books are suitable for their child’s age and maturity level. However, it is important to remember that age ratings are not a substitute for parental judgment, and that every child is different.

How to Find Age Ratings for Books

When it comes to choosing books for children, it can be difficult to know which ones are age-appropriate. Age ratings can help guide parents and caregivers in selecting books that are appropriate for their children. Age ratings are typically provided by the publisher or bookseller and can help ensure that the content of the book is suitable for the age of the reader. In this article, we will discuss what age ratings are, how to find them, and other factors to consider when selecting books for children.

Age ratings are labels used to indicate the recommended age group for a particular book. These ratings are typically provided by the publisher or bookseller and are based on the content of the book. Age ratings are generally broken down into categories such as “ages 0-3”, “ages 4-7”, “ages 8-12”, and “ages 13 and up”. The ratings are meant to guide parents and caregivers in selecting books that are appropriate for their children.

Age ratings are typically provided by the publisher or bookseller. Many publishers will include the age rating on the cover or inside the book. Booksellers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble also provide age ratings for books. When shopping for books online, simply look for the age rating in the product description.

In addition to age ratings, there are other factors to consider when selecting books for children. It is important to consider the child’s interests and reading level. It is also important to consider the content of the book and whether or not it is appropriate for the child’s age. Finally, it is important to consider the child’s maturity level and whether or not they will be able to handle the content of the book.

In addition to publishers and booksellers, there are other sources for age ratings. Many websites and organizations provide age ratings for books. Common Sense Media is a great resource for age ratings and reviews of books. The American Library Association also provides age ratings for books.

Age ratings can be a helpful tool for parents and caregivers when selecting books for children. Age ratings are typically provided by the publisher or bookseller and can help ensure that the content of the book is suitable for the age of the reader. In addition to age ratings, it is important to consider the child’s interests, reading level, and maturity level when selecting books. Other sources for age ratings include websites such as Common Sense Media and the American Library Association.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Book for a Child

When it comes to selecting books for children, it is important to consider several factors. Not only should the book be age-appropriate, but it should also be engaging and educational. Here are some factors to consider when choosing a book for a child:

Age Appropriateness

The most important factor to consider when choosing a book for a child is the age appropriateness. Age ratings are helpful indicators of the content of a book, and can help parents and guardians make informed decisions about what their child should be reading. It is important to consider the age rating and the content of the book to ensure that it is appropriate for the age of the child.

Engaging Content

Another factor to consider when choosing a book for a child is the content of the book. It is important to select books that will be engaging and interesting to the child. Books that are too difficult or too easy may not be as engaging, so it is important to select books that are appropriate for the child’s reading level.

Educational Value

When selecting a book for a child, it is also important to consider the educational value of the book. Books can be an excellent way to introduce children to new concepts and ideas, and can help to develop their reading and comprehension skills. Look for books that have educational value and can help to expand the child’s knowledge and understanding.

Appropriate Language

It is also important to consider the language used in the book when selecting a book for a child. Books should be written in language that is appropriate for the age of the child, and should not contain any inappropriate or offensive language.

Positive Messages

Finally, it is important to consider the messages that the book conveys. Look for books that contain positive messages and themes, as these can help to shape the child’s values and beliefs. It is important to select books that will help to promote positive values and attitudes.

Choosing the right book for a child is an important decision, and there are many factors to consider. Age appropriateness, engaging content, educational value, appropriate language, and positive messages are all important factors to consider when selecting a book for a child. By considering these factors, parents and guardians can be sure that they are selecting a book that is appropriate and engaging for their child.

Other Sources for Age Ratings

Age ratings for books can be found in a variety of places. In addition to the publisher, library, or bookstore, there are other sources that can help you determine the appropriate age rating for a book.

One of the most reliable sources is the American Library Association (ALA), which provides age ratings for books in its Recommended Reading List. This list is compiled by librarians and is updated annually. It includes age ratings for books in a variety of genres, including fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books. The ALA also provides age ratings for books in its Great Books for Kids list.

Another great source is Common Sense Media, a nonprofit organization that provides age-appropriate media reviews and ratings. Common Sense Media reviews books, movies, TV shows, apps, and video games, and it provides age ratings for books. The reviews are written by experts and parents, and they provide detailed information about the content of the book, including language, violence, and sexual content.

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) is an international organization that promotes reading among children. It provides age ratings for books in its Recommended Reading List. This list is compiled by experts from around the world and is updated annually.

Finally, you can use book reviews to determine the appropriate age rating for a book. Reviews can be found in newspapers, magazines, and online. Reviews provide detailed information about the content of the book, and they often include an age rating.

When choosing a book for a child, it is important to consider the age rating. While age ratings are not a guarantee of a book’s suitability for a particular age group, they can provide valuable information about the content of the book. By considering the age rating, you can ensure that the book is age-appropriate and suitable for your child.

Age ratings are an important tool for parents to use when selecting books for their children. Knowing the age rating of a book can help parents ensure their children are reading age-appropriate material. Age ratings are usually provided on the book’s cover or in the product description online. If the age rating is not available, there are other sources that can provide this information. Parents can also consider factors such as the book’s content, language, and illustrations when choosing books for their children. Ultimately, age ratings are only a guideline and parents should use their own judgement when selecting books for their children.

Rate My YouTuber: Child-Friendly YouTubers and Channels

best age rating websites

It’s difficult, as a parent or carer, to keep on top of everything your children are watching online.

In fact, Common Sense Media found that 27% of videos watched by 0-7 year-olds weren’t appropriate for their age group. Children are spending more and more time online too, with YouTube being one of the most popular platforms for children. According to Qustodio, children were watching twice as many videos in 2020 as they did four years prior.

More screen time isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as long as you’re balancing it with other activities. But how can you make sure your children are watching age-appropriate content?

Our youth board have curated this list of child-friendly YouTubers and channels, so you can discover age-appropriate videos that children love. Included are age guidelines and star ratings from parents as well. Natterhub’s expert online safety team have also added notes, along with links to useful guides if you’d like to discover more about a specific game or topic.

With these child-friendly YouTubers and channels, you can feel safe in the knowledge that your children are watching videos that come with a seal of approval from children, parents/carers, and online safety experts alike.

If you’d like to learn more about privacy settings and other common FAQs, visit our YouTube and YouTube Kids guides.

We often hear that our children know more than the parents. That's why we asked our online-savvy youth board to curate this list of child-friendly YouTubers and channels.

Rate My YouTuber offers youthful insight of our board's favourite YouTubers based on first-hand experiences. We know that every family has different comfort levels, so be sure to check out content with your child before allowing them to access content independently.

The Main Features for Age Verification Vendor

Integration choices

Since age verification is vital for onboarding for different industries, such as adult content, alcohol, tobacco, iGaming, and others, the right software vendor will offer multiple integration options. These usually include direct link generation via dashboard, API, iFrame, or SDK integration. It is helpful when a vendor supports major third-party platforms with out-of-box integration, such as WordPress, Woocommerce, Bubble, Zapier, etc.

Accuracy of age verification

If the KYC vendor cannot guarantee an accurate OCR extraction of the person’s date of birth, it creates additional compliance issues and puts you in an inappropriate spot. Each vendor can provide the success rate of verifications (the accuracy of preventing fraudulent documents and filtering unacceptable documents). KYC vendors can utilize an additional 24/7 manual review to maximize the success and approval rates.

Costs per age verification checks

The cost of age verification checks must be considered to correctly estimate the budget for designing the onboarding process. Since age verification involves taking pictures of the identity documents, the software vendor must accurately determine the age verifications. Usually, due to poor camera quality and ambiguous guidance, users generally fail multiple times before proceeding with correct identity verification. Thus, a vendor charging per every verification check increases onboarding costs without offering precise ROI calculations.

Fitting into other compliance procedures

Since age verification is part of the entire KYC procedure, where identity documents are captured, choosing a KYC vendor with a complete compliance solution is necessary to guarantee higher accuracy and lower your business risk exposure. You have to verify whether an age verification software provider is GDPR compliant and has ISO 27001 certification.

integration choices

Veriff offers AML verification services, including sanctions, PEPs, and adverse media screening. For businesses, they do not provide business verification software.

Overall, while Veriff is praised for its versatility, AI-powered features, fraud prevention capabilities, and speed, there are concerns about its support system, the need for improvements in the UI/UX, and the desire for more customization options. The company is regarded as a solid choice for identity verification, particularly in financial services, but there are areas for improvement to enhance user experience and efficiency.

Hiya. I just want to say a big thank you for this list, it’s great and has saved me from trawling the internet – an experience that is rarely rewarding!

I wonder when I’ll be brave enough to submit my new books for review. You think they’d bother with chapter books? Some are just around 2.5k words each… (though I like to think they are more about quality than quantity ;-).

Anyway, thanks again!

Yes, I think some reviewers would be interested in seeing your chapter book. You never know until you try! Good luck!

Here is are 2 kidlit book review blogs to think about when making next year’s list.

Kid Lit Reviews has been reviewing kids books for nearly five years. Books for ages infant to age 13 can be found there. Reviews are well written, honest, and fair. Reviews for all major publishers.

http://kid-lit-reviews.coom

AND, though no one likes to help the competition, I’ll make exception because this kidlit site is worth mentioning.

This Kid Reviews Books is a book review site that reviews mostly middle grade but also picture books. It was started by nine-year-old Erik, who is now 13. His reviews are fantastic and well written. For a kid’s point of view, there is no site better than Erik’s. He also reviews all major publishers.

Nobody likes to spend money on a new book only to face that overwhelming feeling of disappointment when it doesn't live up to your expectations. The solution is to check out a few book review sites before you hit the shops. The greater the diversity of opinions you can gather, the more confidence you can have that you'll enjoy the title.

Which book review and book rating sites are worth considering? Here are the best ones.

1. Goodreads

goodreads

Goodreads is arguably the leading online community for book lovers. If you want some inspiration for which novel or biography to read next, this is the book review site to visit.

There's an endless number of user-generated reading lists to explore, and Goodreads itself publishes dozens of "best of" lists across a number of categories. You can do a book search by plot or subject , or join book discussions and reading groups with thousands of members.

You can participate in the community by adding your own rankings to books you've read and leaving reviews for other people to check out. Occasionally, there are even bonus events like question and answer sessions with authors.

2. LibraryThing

librarything book review

LibraryThing is the self-proclaimed largest book club in the world. It has more than 2.3 million members and is one of the best social networking platforms for book lovers .

With a free account, you can add up to 200 books to your library and share them with other users. But it's in the other areas where LibraryThing can claim to be one of the best book review sites.

Naturally, there are ratings, user reviews, and tags. But be sure to click on the Zeitgeist tab at the top of the page. It contains masses of information, including the top books by rating, by the number of reviews, by authors, and loads more.

3. Book Riot

book riot

Book Riot is a blog. It publishes listicles on dozens of different topics, many of which review the best books in a certain genre. To give you an idea, some recent articles include Keeping Hoping Alive: 11 Thrilling YA Survival Stories and The Best Historical Fiction Books You’ve Never Heard Of .

Of course, there's also plenty of non-reading list content. If you have a general affinity for literature, Book Riot is definitely worth adding to the list of websites you browse every day.

bookish

Bookish is a site that all members of book clubs should know about. It helps you prep for your next meeting with discussion guides, book quizzes, and book games. There are even food and drink suggestions, as well as playlist recommendations.

But the site is more than just book club meetings. It also offers lots of editorial content. That comes in the form of author interviews, opinion essays, book reviews and recommendations, reading challenges, and giveaways.

Be sure to look at the Must-Reads section of the site regularly to get the latest book reviews. Also, it goes without saying that the people behind Bookish are book lovers, too. To get a glimpse of what they’re reading, check out their Staff Reads articles.

5. Booklist

booklist

Booklist is a print magazine that also offers an online portal. Trusted experts from the American Library Association write all the book reviews.

You can see snippets of reviews for different books. However, to read them in full, you will need to subscribe. An annual plan for this book review site costs $184.95 per year.

6. Fantasy Book Review

fantasy book review website

Fantasy Book Review should be high on the list for anyone who is a fan of fantasy works. The book review site publishes reviews for both children's books and adults' books.

It has a section on the top fantasy books of all time and a continually updated list of must-read books for each year. You can also search through the recommended books by sub-genres such as Sword and Sorcery, Parallel Worlds, and Epic Fantasy.

7. LoveReading

lovereading

LoveReading is one of the most popular book review sites in the UK, but American audiences will find it to be equally useful.

The site is divided into fiction and non-fiction works. In each area, it publishes weekly staff picks, books of the month, debuts of the month, ebooks of the month, audiobooks of the month, and the nationwide bestsellers. Each book on every list has a full review that you can read for free.

Make sure you also check out their Highlights tab to get book reviews for selected titles of the month. In Collections , you'll also find themed reading lists such as World War One Literature and Green Reads .

kirkus

Kirkus has been involved in producing book reviews since the 1930s. This book review site looks at the week's bestselling books, and provides lengthy critiques for each one.

As you'd expect, you'll also find dozens of "best of" lists and individual book reviews across many categories and genres.

And while you're on the site, make sure you click on the Kirkus Prize section. You can look at all the past winners and finalists, complete with the accompanying reviews of their books.

reddit books

Although Reddit is a social media site, you can use it to get book reviews of famous books, or almost any other book for that matter! Reddit has a Subreddit, r/books, that is dedicated to book reviews and reading lists.

The subreddit has weekly scheduled threads about a particular topic or genre. Anyone can then chip in with their opinions about which books are recommendable. Several new threads are published every day, with people discussing their latest discovery with an accompanying book rating or review.

You'll also discover a weekly recommendation thread. Recent threads have included subjects such as Favorite Books About Climate Science , Literature of Indigenous Peoples , and Books Set in the Desert . There’s also a weekly What are you Reading? discussion and frequent AMAs.

For more social media-like platforms, check out these must-have apps for book lovers .

10. YouTube

YouTube is not the type of place that immediately springs to mind when you think of the best book review sites online.

Nonetheless, there are several engaging YouTube channels that frequently offer opinions on books they've read. You’ll easily find book reviews of famous books here.

Some of the most notable book review YouTube channels include Better Than Food: Book Reviews , Little Book Owl , PolandBananasBooks , and Rincey Reads .

man in the music book on amazon

Amazon is probably one of your go-to site when you want to buy something. If you don’t mind used copies, it’s also one of the best websites to buy second-hand books .

Now, to get book reviews, just search and click on a title, then scroll down to see the ratings and what others who have bought the book are saying. It’s a quick way to have an overview of the book’s rating. If you spot the words Look Inside above the book cover, it means you get to preview the first few pages of the book, too!

Regardless of the praises or criticisms you have heard from other book review sites, reading a sample is the most direct way to help you gauge the content’s potential and see whether the author’s writing style suits your tastes.

12. StoryGraph

storygraph

StoryGraph is another good book review site that's worth checking out. The book rating is determined by the site's large community of readers. Key in the title of a book you're interested in and click on it in StoryGraph's search results to have an overall view of its rating.

Each book review provides information on the moods and pacing of the story. It also indicates whether the tale is plot or character-driven, what readers feel about the extent of character development, how lovable the characters generally are, and the diversity of the cast.

13. London Review of Books

london review of books

The London Review of Books is a magazine that covers a range of subjects such as culture, literature, and philosophy. Part of its content includes amazingly detailed book reviews. If you feel that most modern book reviews are too brief for your liking, the London Review of Books should suit you best.

You'll gain insight into the flow and themes of the story, as well as a more thorough picture of the events taking place in the book.

Read Book Reviews Before You Buy

The book review sites we've discussed will appeal to different types of readers. Some people will be more comfortable with the easy-to-interpret book rating systems; others will prefer extensive reviews written by experienced professionals.

Although it’s easy to be tempted by a gorgeous book cover, it’s always best to have a quick look at the book reviews before actually buying a copy. This way, you can save your money and spend it on the books that you’ll be proud to display on your shelves for a long time. And check out recommendations, as well, to help you find what's worth reading.

Good websites for checking age ratings on upcoming manga/graphic novel titles?

I collect manga and graphic novels for all age groups at my library. It has always frustrated me that most websites do not list the age rating for comics and graphic novels (E - Everyone, all ages; Y - Youth, 10+; T - Teen, 13+; OT - Older Teen, 16+; M - Mature, 18+). B&T, Ingram, Amazon, Edelweiss do not provide this information, for reasons I cannot fathom. Some publishers provide this info, but it would be really handy not to have to check each publisher's website for each title while putting together an order. Rightstufanime.com was my go to resource for manga ratings, but they just got absorbed by Crunchyroll, which does not provide ratings. Anyone have a good website where you can just drop an ISBN and get a rating? Thanks for the help!

The Best Online Senior Dating Sites for Seniors 2024

amie-clark

Overall Rating:

eHarmony Logo

One in six U.S. adults ages 50 and older have used dating sites or apps, and, according to 2022 Pew data , nearly half of those online daters are looking for long-term spouses or partners. Just because you may be later in life doesn’t mean your romantic life is over — quite the opposite, in fact!

You may have some specific concerns regarding online dating, such as navigating technology, staying safe, shifting relationship expectations, or finding someone of a similar age. Our aim with this guide is to empower you to date online and guide you through the best online dating sites for seniors.

The Best Dating Sites for Seniors in 2024

  • SilverSingles : Best for Safety
  • eHarmony : Best Matching Features
  • OurTime : Best With Free Unlimited Likes
  • SeniorMatch : Best Senior-Specific Site
  • Match.com : Best With In-Person Events

How We Chose Our Favorites

As we evaluated over 30 online dating sites, we used the following criteria:

  • Membership makeup : We primarily looked for websites that cater to seniors specifically, such as SeniorMatch and SilverSingles. You can find older adults on most dating websites, however, even those not made for specific ages. Match, for example, claims to have the largest number of users over age 50.
  • Cost : Most dating websites offer free versions, but their functionality is typically very limited. Paid subscriptions range from around $15 to $40 a month, but cheaper prices are available if you sign up for longer periods.
  • Privacy features : Talking to strangers online is always a risk, but the best dating websites offer protection against fake profiles and scams with identity verification through texting and selfie videos. Many companies also employ security teams to maintain safety on sites and actively remove spam profiles.
  • Matching features : There are two main methods of matching for online dating. The first is a personality test, in which you answer a bunch of questions and get matched based on your compatibility with others’ results. The second, which is more common and less time-consuming, is by filling out your basic information and what you’re looking for in a partner. The site will find people in your area who fit your criteria.
  • Additional features : Sites like Match offer in-person meetups, while sites like CatholicMatch offer video chat with premium subscriptions. Many sites also offer mobile apps for chatting on the go. I focused on websites with this list, but you can see an app’s reviews in the Apple or Google Play stores if you’re interested in mobile dating.

1. SilverSingles - Best for Safety

What we like most:.

  • 80 percent of users are 50 or older
  • Over 381,000 new users per month worldwide
  • Sensitive data is encrypted and not shared with any third parties
  • Verifies every new member using a fraud-detection system

Want a website built for seniors? Meet SilverSingles, which is designed specifically for people 50 or older. Eighty percent of its users are 50 or older, but the site accepts anyone 18 or over. SilverSingles certainly doesn’t have the membership base of a well-known site such as eHarmony or Match.com, but it has nearly 1.6 million daters over 50 and 6,000 daily active members. The website itself is also highly secure, with encryption of sensitive data, fraud detection, and verifications for every new member.

How It Works

The SilverSingles home screen

Similar to eHarmony, which also requires a personality test, SilverSingles had us sign up for an account with an email address and password, and then asked for preferences in a partner, including their height, education level, and religion. There were also a few compatibility-type questions that asked us to select from various pictures of shapes and objects.

Once we completed our profile, we realized we needed a paid subscription to see profiles or message people. Once we provided our credit card information, we were able to match and message with people directly from the website.

Standout Features

Dating online can be scary. You never know who you’re really chatting with until you meet them. We appreciated, however, that SilverSingles verifies every new member before allowing them to create a profile. What does that mean? Real people check all profile photos and entries before they get uploaded to the website, ensuring there are no fake users. To protect against data breaches, the company also encrypts sensitive data and never shares it with third parties, unlike SeniorMatch, which works with third-party advertisers.

To block spam users, the company’s fraud team will investigate any activity that looks suspicious. That made us feel safe that we weren’t talking to any bots or bad actors, just single seniors like us looking for love!

Plans and Costs

We initially signed up for a free subscription, which, similar to eHarmony, did not let us see any pictures of matches. We also couldn’t message anyone, so to actually use the app requires a paid subscription. All the paid options provide the same features, such as unlimited messaging and the ability to view all member photos and see who visited your profile or read your messages. Like OurTime, the longer your subscription, the cheaper the per-month rate.

Unlike OurTime, which offers plans for as little as a week, the minimum with SilverSingles is three months — a bit more of a commitment (no pun intended). SilverSingles’ pricing is about average if you sign up for three months, but the 12-month plan is slightly overpriced at $19.95 per month. Since other websites, such as Christian Cafe, charge as little as $9.99, that seems a bit high for the cheapest option.

Price per month $39.95 $22.95 $19.95
Total amount billed $119.85 $137.70 $239.40
Term length in months 3 6 12

Like eHarmony, the personality test on SilverSingles was quite long, asking which pictures we associate the most with (one was of desks of varying messiness; another was of shapes). We were asked standard questions such as our job and favorite dating activities, as well as odd questions such as our income bracket and how we would rate our own level of attractiveness.

Although SilverSingles brands itself as a senior site, it accepts anyone 18 or older. According to the company, 20 percent of its members are under age 50, which may not appeal to some seniors wanting to date other seniors.

Our Verdict

SilverSingles is a great option for people 50 or older who want to date someone around their age. If you want to keep your options open, you’ll get the best of both worlds at SilverSingles, since 20 percent of its users are under 50. SilverSingles is a safe way to meet other seniors in your area, with member verification and encryption of sensitive data.

To learn more about the site, read our SilverSingles review .

  • Encrypts sensitive data
  • Uses fraud detection and ID authentication to block spam users
  • Accepts anyone 18 or older
  • Long sign-up process

2. eHarmony - Best Matching Features

  • Large user base
  • Free version available
  • High-quality safety features
  • Profiles verified via SMS

You probably know about eHarmony from its TV commercials, which have been on for years. As of 2024, eHarmony is still one of the most popular dating sites for people 18 and older, including seniors. Its claim to fame is its compatibility quiz, which matches you not just by what you say you want in a partner, but also by whom you’re most compatible with.

The quiz is long and the subscriptions are pricey, but you’re paying to be matched with one of the biggest pools in the country, unlike more niche senior-specific websites like SilverSingles.

The eHarmony home page

When we visited eHarmony’s website, we couldn’t find any pricing information. Rather, we were urged to sign up for free and create an account. That’s when we took the compatibility quiz, which took about 20 minutes. It asked where we would ideally want to live and why we want a relationship, as well as questions about income, religion, height, and more.

Once we completed the quiz, we were taken to the subscriptions (detailed below). We could match with and message people with a free plan, but we had to buy a subscription to see photos. Maybe you’re less appearance-conscious than our team, but most people will end up paying something to use eHarmony.

The biggest standout feature of eHarmony is its compatibility quiz, which asked many detailed questions about our main reason for wanting a relationship, what we would do in certain scenarios, and, of course, basic information such as our job, height, income, and religion. The website even showed images and had us click the one we found most appealing. It showed everything from houses to flowers to random shapes.

We weren’t entirely sure what the images signified, but we were assured that eHarmony is more than just filling out a form. The algorithm tries to find not just who you say you want, but also who you’d be most compatible with.

We used eHarmony for free and were able to message people, but we couldn’t see any photos. Looks aren’t everything, but most people want to see photos before they message someone. If you’re in that group, you’ll want to upgrade to a Premium plan in either a six-month, one-year, or two-year package. eHarmony is one of the most expensive dating sites, reaching nearly $60 a month for a six-month package. Two years is by far the longest period I’ve seen from a dating site, and it won’t appeal to most people. If you want a more affordable service, check out OurTime.

Total price $0 $359.40 $239.40 $358.80
Price per month $0 $59.90 $19.95 $14.95
Term length in months n/a 6 12 24
Number of matches Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
Access to messaging tools All All All All
Messaging Limited Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
See photos No Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
See who has viewed you No Yes Yes Yes
Unique personality profile No Yes Yes Yes
Distance search No Yes Yes Yes

The main drawback of eHarmony is its price. Most dating apps cost between $15 and $40 per month, and eHarmony starts at $14.95 a month — but only if you sign up for two years, which is the longest period we’ve seen from any dating subscription. Most people want to be off the site after that long, so a two-year package isn’t appealing. There’s no one-month option, unlike with OurTime or SeniorMatch, and the shortest time period, six months, costs $59.90 a month for a total of nearly $360. The annual package is the most reasonable option at $19.95 a month, but not everyone will want to make a 12-month commitment for nearly $240.

If you’re looking for The One and you’re willing to put in the work — namely a lengthy compatibility quiz — eHarmony is a great way to meet someone in your area. You’ll have the benefit of being in a large pond, and you’ll be able to sort by age if you want to meet someone in your peer group.

To learn more about the site, read our full eHarmony senior dating review .

  • Millions of active users
  • Subscriptions from $14.95 per month
  • Fraud prevention through credit-reference agencies and other public sources
  • SMS verification for profiles
  • High prices unless you sign up for two years
  • No in-person meetups offered by the site

3. OurTime - Best With Free Unlimited Likes

  • Quick sign-up process
  • Free option
  • Paid plans for only $12.99 per month
  • Mandatory text verification

OurTime is a dating website from the Match Group, which also owns Match.com, Hinge, and a slew of other dating websites. It’s available to anyone 18 or older, and, unlike eHarmony, it does not require a long personality test. We simply filled out information about ourselves and what we wanted from potential partners, and we started getting matches based on what we wrote.

The view from the home screen of OurTime

Unlike eHarmony, signing up for and using OurTime was very quick. We created an account using an email address, and then filled out some basic information: location, type of desired relationship, number of kids, and so on. One unique component of OurTime is the ability to set dealbreakers. If we wanted to be shown only Jewish men, for example, we could note that and set religion as a dealbreaker.

Once the process was complete, we added a photo and voíla — we started liking and matching with people. Actually seeing messages, however, required an upgrade from a free membership. Despite the number of likes and messages we received, we had to upgrade our membership to view other users’ photos.

OurTime’s free subscription gave us a ton of leeway without having to provide our credit card information. We could see unblurred photos and like as many people as we wanted. We also still got 12 Top Picks — people who OurTime thought we may like based on our profile and preferences. The Top Picks meant less time searching and more time liking people we thought were cute. Of course, actually messaging those people required a membership upgrade.

Like eHarmony, OurTime offers a completely free tier, but you won’t be able to message at all. If you want unlimited messaging and some other cool features, such as being able to see when someone reads your message, you can go with a Premium package, which starts at three months. The longer the term, the less the per-month cost.

OurTime is also the only dating site we’ve come across that offers a one-week subscription. Companies like SeniorMatch and Christian Cafe typically require at least a one-month subscription, so this is a great way to dip your toes into the waters of online dating. OurTime’s overall pricing is slightly lower than average, no matter whether you sign up for a week or a year.

1-week cost $0 $19.99 n/a
1-month cost $0 $33.88 n/a
3-month cost $0 $69.87 $74.97
6-month cost $0 $90.84 $108.84
12-month cost 0 n/a 155.88
Messaging No Unlimited Unlimited
Maximum number of Top Picks daily 12 12 12
Number of likes you can send Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
Unlock conversations with matches No Yes Yes
Read receipts No No Yes
Monthly boost No No Yes
Weekly Super Like No No Yes
Unlimited rewards No No Yes

We appreciated how quickly we were able to make a profile on OurTime, but there was no personality test like with eHarmony or SilverSingles. That meant our Top Picks were rather superficial, based on traits such as height, education level, and job instead of actual compatibility. If you want to go deeper, we recommend a site like eHarmony, which has a lengthy compatibility quiz. It may take more work up front, but you’ll get better matches.

Don’t want to take a long personality test? OurTime is a straightforward dating app that won’t take you long to sign up for. The Top Picks feature also makes meeting your perfect match even less labor-intensive. With prices starting at only $12.99 if you sign up for 12 months, OurTime won’t break the bank either.

To learn more about the site, read our full OurTime review .

  • Can designate your preferences as “dealbreakers”
  • Top Picks based on your criteria
  • Option to sign up for a week
  • Mandatory SMS verification
  • Does not conduct criminal background checks on members
  • Shares de-identified member information with advertisers

4. SeniorMatch - Best Senior-Specific Site

SeniorMatch Logo

  • Accepts only adults 40 years old or above
  • Can look for both romantic and platonic relationships
  • Nearly 1.6 million active singles over age 50
  • 6,000 active members per day

SeniorMatch is the only site on this list that has an age minimum other than 18. To have a profile on SeniorMatch, you must be 40 or over, and the site takes that very seriously by verifying your identity through a government ID. Not only does the site offer online dating, but it also has chat rooms and an area to post fun events — bringing your dating life from online to offline.

SeniorMatch asked for an email address, age, location, height, ethnicity, and other demographic information. We also had to write at least 50 characters about ourselves. Once we created a profile, we were free to search based on gender, age range, and region.

For upgraded search functions and the ability to initiate messages, we had to buy a Premium subscription. Unlike with eHarmony and OurTime, however, we could receive and reply to messages with the free version. If you prefer to take the reins, you’ll probably want to upgrade to a Premium package. Another cool Premium feature is voice messages. It’s nice to hear someone’s voice rather than merely reading their words on a screen.

SeniorMatch requires age verification through both a video selfie and a photo ID

SeniorMatch is serious when it says it accepts only people ages 40 or over. How do we know? Because the website not only made a member of our team take a selfie video, but it also had them upload a government ID to prove their age. We couldn’t even access our profile until we uploaded the license. That’s the highest level of verification we’ve seen from a dating website. If you’re concerned about spam users, you’ll be safe with SeniorMatch.

SeniorMatch makes it short and sweet when it comes to subscriptions. With the free version, we could respond to, but not initiate, messages. We were also limited in terms of the filters we could use to search, and we missed out on nice touches like voice messages and the ability to browse anonymously and send unlimited “winks,” or canned responses.

The premium options come in one-, three-, or six-month packages, and prices are pretty reasonable compared to sites such as SilverSingles — even if you sign up for only one month.

1-month cost $0 $29.95
3-month cost $0 $59.94
6-month cost $0 $95.94
Receive and reply to messages Yes Yes
Search functions Gender, age rage, and region only All filters including distance
Voice messages No Yes
Browse anonymously No Yes
Number of winks you can send per day Sign up for more than 3 days: 30
Sign up for less than 3 days: 20

When we read SeniorMatch’s privacy policy , we were dismayed to see that it will collect information from your social media accounts if you “Like” the brand on Facebook. That information includes:

  • Friends list
  • Status updates

Third parties who host these social activities may also collect your IP address, geolocation data, and other personal information. If you want a company with more privacy, we recommend SilverSingles, which does not share any of your information with third parties.

SeniorMatch is the best option for someone sure about dating only people 50 or older. We were blown away by its verification system, which blocks people under 50 from joining and makes sure no one is a spam bot. It’s also the only option on this list that allows for both romantic and platonic relationships, making it a great option if you want a partner or simply a friend.

  • 40-year-old age minimum
  • 6,000 active members daily
  • Nearly 1.6 million singles over 50
  • No long personality test
  • May monitor your social media activities
  • Does not perform background checks on members

5. Match.com - Best With In-Person Events

Match Logo

  • Most commonly used site by U.S. online daters 50 or older
  • Free membership option
  • Ample in-person events

Match made it easy to quickly sign up and start using its features.

Match.com is the dating app seniors in the U.S. use the most, even though it’s open to anyone 18 or older. Daters 50 or older — who make up about 27 percent of the site’s users — are the fastest-growing demographic, according to statistics from Match . The site is also the only one on this list to host in-person events, which may be preferable to communicating online. Match is pricier than most, but, like with eHarmony, you’re paying for a much larger dating pool.

Match had us create an account, and then enter our height, whether we wanted kids, and our smoking and drinking habits, among other information. We then outlined what we were looking for in a partner and whether it was a dealbreaker, similar to OurTime. We also chose topics we’re interested in from a list of pastimes, and filled out three open-ended questions. The questions — such as, “I know I’m dating an adult when…” — seemed aimed at younger users. Once we finished creating a profile, we could send a limited amount of messages and like as many people as we wanted. Messages were sent directly to our inbox, and we were alerted to everyone who “Super Liked” us — a step above “like.”

Match is the only site on this list that hosts its own in-person events, which are called, creatively, Match Events. They’re great if you’re not fully comfortable dating online and prefer face-to-face interaction. Match Events occur all over the country, and the website will email you an invitation if there are any events in your area. Make sure to RSVP quickly, though, since they tend to fill up. You could bring a friend with you to make you feel more comfortable, even if they’re not a Match member! Note, however, that the events are not included in your subscription and cost extra. Still, it’s a major perk if you want to meet a bunch of single people in your area in real life.

Match has one of the best free subscriptions of all the dating sites we’ve used. As long as you’re OK with not having unlimited messages, it’s a great way to begin your dating journey. If you’re ready for more dates, however, you can sign up for a premium package. Note that Match is one of the most expensive dating sites, though, probably because of its brand recognition. The minimum you’ll pay per month is $19.99, and that’s only if you sign up for a year.

3-month price $0 $119.97
6-month price $0 $149.94
12-month price $0 $239.88

Given Match’s popularity among seniors, however, the price may be worth it. After all, shouldn’t you be fishing where the fish are?

Even though Match is the most popular app among the over-50 set, the profile questions seemed directed at younger daters. That seemed odd, given that 54 percent of online daters ages 50 to 64 and 44 percent of online daters ages 65 and up have used Match — more than any other app. So what’s the deal?

According to Match’s member statistics, one in four members is under 30 and nearly half are under 50. That leaves only about 27 percent in the 50-or-above crowd; SilverSingles, on the other hand, boasts an over-50 rate of 80 percent. Essentially, Match is the most-used website on this list, but the majority of its users are not seniors. Do you want to be a big fish in a small pond or a tiny fish in the ocean? It all depends on what you’re looking for. Match, however, says the 50-or-older age group is its fastest-growing demographic.

If you want to cast the widest possible net, Match is the best option. Seniors in the U.S. use it the most by far, and it’s the only site on this list that offers in-person events. We love that Match, although it’s a website and app, features in-person interactions that allow you to meet multiple people at once and see if there’s chemistry.

How Do Online Dating Sites for Seniors Work?

Online dating sites for seniors work the same way they do for any other age, whether it’s a general or senior-specific dating app or website. Seniors sign up for an account, choose a subscription, and create their profile. A profile typically will consist of information about yourself, your hobbies, and what you’re looking for in a partner, along with your most flattering photos, which you’ll upload yourself. Most dating sites also let you fill in your preferences — which will be private to you — regarding a partner, including age, distance from you, education level, and religion. Some dating sites have you take a personality test to match you based on compatibility.

Once you’ve created a profile and specified what you’re looking for, you’ll be shown singles in your area. Some websites let you see everyone who “likes” you, meaning they clicked a button indicating their romantic interest, but others won’t tell you unless you’ve also “liked” that person. Either way, you’ll enter a chat room with that person, where you can write to each other through the dating site. You’ll communicate, whether through written messages, a phone call, video chat, or carrier pigeon, and if that goes well you’ll meet in person.

Are There Free Dating Sites for Seniors?

There are free dating websites for seniors, including eHarmony, OurTime, SilverSingles, SeniorMatch, and Match.com. Without a paid subscription, however, you won’t get all the features of the website or app, such as being able to see pictures, send unlimited messages, or send unlimited likes. One exception is Christian Cafe, which offers a 10-day free trial with which you’ll be able to experience all the features of a paid subscription. It ends after 10 days, though, unlike the other sites on this list, which you can use for free indefinitely.

There are also completely free dating websites such as seniorfriendsdate.com , but they tend to be less trustworthy and do not have the security features and identity verification of more established sites. There are also free apps like Hinge and Tinder, but they skew younger. Only 4 percent of online daters in their 50s, 2 percent of people in their 60s, and 4 percent of people in their 70s use Hinge, while the percentages for Tinder are only 19, 6, and 1 percent, respectively.

What to Look for in Senior Dating Sites

Before you look for a date, you have to look for a senior dating site. You may know what you want in a partner, but senior dating apps are another story. Here are some factors to look for when you’re deciding which platform is your soulmate.

  • Privacy features : Make sure the company behind the dating site is not selling your personal data to advertisers or sharing it with any other third parties for marketing purposes. The website should display your first name only and no personal information.
  • Free trials : We appreciate websites that let you try before you buy, like Christian Cafe, which has a 10-day free trial. The majority of sites we’ve checked out don’t have free trials, but instead free tiers with limited features.
  • Communication options : Most dating sites offer communication through messaging on the site itself. Some websites, like SeniorMatch, also offer chat rooms for multiple people. CatholicMatch offers video chat with premium subscriptions, which is even better than messaging.
  • In-person meetups : Some sites, like Match.com, offer in-person meetups, but it’s not something we’ve seen from many other dating sites. If in-person meetups are important to you, check out Match.com.
  • Matchmaking algorithms : Some companies make you take a personality test, but others just ask about who you are and what you’re looking for. If a personality test seems like too much work, rule out eHarmony, which took the longest to complete.

How to Stay Safe With Senior Dating Sites

Dating isn’t all fun and romance. Unfortunately, in 2022, almost 70,000 people in the U.S. reported romance scams to the Federal Trade Commission , with median reported losses of $4,400. Over half of U.S. online dating users say they’ve encountered someone they think was trying to scam them on a dating site or app, according to a 2022 Pew Research Center survey. The best defense is a good offense, and you can stay safe with these tips:

  • Refrain from disclosing personal information . It’s OK to share your first name, but not your last name, address, or phone number until you’ve met someone in person.
  • Avoid profiles that seem too good to be true . Is he over 6 feet with a whole head of hair? He may be too good to be true. That was a joke, but seriously: Don’t believe everything you see on dating sites, especially since Facetune is a thing!
  • Suggest a video chat before meeting in person . You want to make sure you’re dating a real person, right? A video chat is the best way to verify before you doll yourself up to go to a restaurant. If the person doesn’t have the proper equipment, a phone call is a great way to get to know each other — and verify they are who they say they are.

Bottom Line

Online dating may seem daunting for people past middle-age, but we recommend the possibilities of the endeavor. It’s never too late to find love and companionship, and online dating shouldn’t be overlooked. Think of it as a jumping-off point for something that could turn into a real relationship in the real world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hinge is not a good dating site for seniors. According to data from a Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults conducted in 2022, only 3 percent of online daters between the ages of 50 and 64 are on Hinge, and only 1 percent of those ages 65 and up. According to the survey, the most popular dating site for both age groups is Match, which boasts 54 percent of users ages 60 to 64 and 44 percent of those 65 and up.

No, AARP does not have a dating site.

It is not clear which dating site has the most 50-plus users, since the sites don’t typically release their numbers of members. The online dating site most commonly used by U.S. adults 50 or older, however, is Match. According to a 2022 survey from the Pew Research Center, 53 percent of online daters ages 50 to 59 use Match. More than half of U.S. online daters between the ages of 60 and 69 and 41 percent of those 70 or older do as well.

Yes, there are dating sites specifically for seniors, such as SilverSingles and SeniorMatch. Technically anyone can join SilverSingles, but SeniorMatch has a minimum age of 40.

Seeking is without a doubt today’s most popular age gap dating website, given that its primary purpose is to provide older men or women with a place to grab themselves a pretty young thing to shower with affection.

As far as the dating world is concerned, Seeking guarantees its members a near-100% matching rate, as evidenced by the success stories that both older men and women have found using this top age gap dating platform.

There are numerous reasons why this is so.

For one, the site’s members are all legit; you won’t find any fake profiles or scammers here. Then, there’s the uber-streamlined site design and interface that allows you to easily look for younger men or women to date.

Oh, and younger members can use this top age gap dating site for free , too, which is why it has an amazing male to female user ratio.

Suffice it to say that a significant age gap doesn’t matter on Seeking as long as you have the right resources to “gift” your date!

As such, it’s one of the best sites for casual age gap relationships.

The fact that it uses a credit-based system to help you access their premium features– like messaging and profile viewing– is amazing as well.

One of the main draws of SD is that it lets both younger women and mature men get connected quickly with the help of their super detailed and efficient search filters.

After which, all that’s left for you to do is slide into their DMs or submit letters to them via their in-site mail function!

Granted, there are some fake members that can be found on MM, but they can easily be spotted when you notice that they don’t have the site’s trademark “Millionaire Badge” — this advertises that you’re the real deal to other users.

With a prompt and helpful customer support team and a large community, finding real age gap relationships on MM is easy.

With the help of their First Date Idea section that allows you to answer potential dates and take a gander at other members’ goods with their uploaded photos — finding older women or younger men on this site is an absolute joy!

That’s all thanks to their highly efficient pairing algorithm, which is primarily done through their exhaustive compatibility quiz that allows you to discover the most perfect potential partners.

Even better, you can precisely narrow down your age preferences on eHarmony.

So, if you’re a younger woman looking for older men, finding the right one is as easy and quick as clicking on your mouse.

Lastly, the detailed profiles of each member here are an absolute godsend. It’s basically a complete dossier that will let you find nearly everything about your prospective match — from their height to whether they like to support local journalism!

And if you’re worried about being scammed here, don’t be: WYP makes sure that you’re only dating legitimate men and women here, regardless of your age gap!

And although this site doesn’t cater to older women looking for younger men, it’s an absolute banger when helping more mature guys find pretty young women.

First off, it’s super quick and easy to join SDM since this dating platform allows you to create an account using your Facebook account.

Once inside, you can easily meet and connect with other women out there using SDM’s amazing location filters.

To make the platform even more appealing, privacy is championed here as well: you can post private photos that can only be accessed when other users ask for your permission!

10. RichMeetBeautiful — Great Age Gap Relationships Online

11 Best Age Gap Dating Sites to Find Younger & Older Singles

  • You can send gifts to other users
  • Lets you see who viewed your profile
  • Doesn’t cater to younger men
  • Premium memberships available via monthly subscription
  • In-depth profiles

RichMeetBeautiful is another great entry into the world of age gap hookups. And even though it, unfortunately, falls victim to the usual trap of not catering to older women looking for younger men, it’s a nifty platform regardless!

The main draw of RBM is how it allows you to keep track of prospective men or women you’re looking to go out on a date with.

Not only are you allowed to check out other profiles on this site, but you even have the immensely useful features that allow you to see who’s viewed you!

Plus, you can even buy your chosen partners virtual gifts through RMB’s in-site store, which adds to that intimate feel to the whole online hookup scene!

11. Elite Singles — Best for Finding Successful Partners

11 Best Age Gap Dating Sites to Find Younger & Older Singles

  • Has wide availability

  • Members made up of educated people
  • Slightly outdated interface

First and foremost, each and every member on ES is verified, so you won’t find any fake profiles here. Even better is the fact that nearly all ES users have at least a high school degree — which means you won’t find any yokels and hillbillies on this platform.

As far as its features go, it provides results while maintaining the entertainment factor with it. There’s a “Have You Met” game section where you’re given quickfire suggestions that you can turn down or accept a la Tinder.

And the best part?

ES holds honest-to-goodness real-life speed dating events where you can find your perfect date in person!

Our Benchmarks — How We Chose the Top Age Gap Dating Websites

We didn’t just put any hookup and casual dating websites on our list. Our stringent standards made sure that you’re only going to find the best platforms from our top picks.

That said, here are the criteria we used to determine the top age gap relationship sites right now!

Community Size

The larger the user base, the more options you have. That’s exactly why we made sure to include only the most populated and active platforms in our top picks!

User Quality

As they say, “size isn’t everything.” We only included age gap hookup platforms that possess legitimate profiles and quality members. As such, there’s very little chance that you’ll be meeting trolls and fakers on these sites.

Standout Site Features

The finest age gap dating websites out there provide you with useful features that are both fun to use and help you find the perfect partner to go out with. So, this criterion was right at the forefront when we selected our top picks!

Best Age Gap Dating Websites: FAQs

What is the top age gap dating website right now.

Each and every one of our top picks is an absolute haven for people looking to date outside their age group.

However, we’d be lying if we told you that we didn’t have any favorites. As such, here are the best of the best in our opinion:

First, there’s Seeking, which is the absolute top dog in the world of age gap dates. From 100% free accounts that they provide to younger women to how they strictly allow only legitimate users on their platform — few other sites can match this one.

Then, there’s AgeMatch, which is an amazing hookup platform that specifically caters to flexible age gaps when dating other people. With a great male-to-female user ratio and top-notch search filters, this is truly an amazingly customizable site.

Finally, AdultFriendFinder is hands-down one of the most diverse and largest online dating platforms around. So much so that you can find all types of dating preferences here, from age gap dates to casual hookups!

How can I be successful on online dating sites?

11 Best Age Gap Dating Sites to Find Younger & Older Singles

We know, we know. Online dating can be quite a challenge.

In between poor matches and the dreaded introduction phase to any relationship, finding the right partner gets difficult!

Don’t worry, though: we’re here to help. Feel free to check out the guidelines that we’ve provided you below:

  • Complete YOUR profile. The more information you provide other users, the more vivid the picture they have of you. This will then help them (and you) get a much clearer idea of whether you guys are a great match.
  • Location is important. It doesn’t matter if you’ve found the perfect person to date on one of our age gap dating apps or websites if they live somewhere that you can’t actually meet. So, make sure to take advantage of location-based filters whenever you’re looking for someone to date from one of these platforms.
  • Be nice. Nobody likes an abrasive or pompous individual, especially on sites dedicated to helping people find romantic partners. So, remember to stay polite and cordial when interacting with other users. Besides, “you catch more bees with honey” and all that!
  • What’s the best dating site for serious relationships?

Sites like Seeking, AgeMatch, and eHarmony are great age gap date sites made for people looking for serious, long-term relationships with anyone who wants to get into the game. This includes older women looking for younger men or older guys looking for pretty young things!

On the other hand, we highly recommend that you check out AdultFriendFinder if more casual flings and trysts are more up your alley.

For even more alternatives, you could also check out some of the top senior dating sites.

How do I stay safe on dating websites and apps?

Although every site that we’ve included in our top picks can be trusted to keep your data and information safe, it’s all up to you when it comes to maintaining your own safety when dealing with other users on these platforms.

They’re basically strangers that you just met online, after all. Keep these guidelines in mind when on these sites:

  • Never provide your personal information to people you just met. Your real name, home, work address, or even the state you live in should remain confidential until you’ve built trust with who you’re talking to.
  • The only instance you should provide your financial info is when the sites ask for it. But, of course, this only should happen when you’re purchasing something, such as premium memberships or features.
  • When meeting for the first time, opt for a mutually agreed public place. Not to be an alarmist, but there are a lot of weirdos out there, so it’s best to make sure that you’re dealing with someone legit before you choose a more intimate setting for a date!

Best Age Gap Dating Sites - The Takeaway

From Seeking to AgeMatch to AdultFriendFinder , we’ve provided you with a master list of the best places where you can find dates online regardless of your age.

Whether you’re looking for something more serious or you’re just in it for the thrill of a casual relationship, these platforms are the top performers, bar none!

Stay safe and have fun!

Best Senior Dating Sites (2024)

Fact Checked by: Debbie Gutfreund, MA

  • Senior Dating Apps

Growing older certainly does not mean that you have any less of a right to happiness and finding love. In fact, if you ask us, we think you’ve earned the right to the utmost happiness and the chance to share that with someone special! But—finding love and companionship as a senior has it’s own challenges. Where do you look? How do you find them? What’s the best next step?

It may surprise you to know that nearly 1 in 3 seniors who have dated in the past five years have tried online dating apps .

In this day and age many older singles are turning to online dating to build connections! Want to know where (and how)? In this guide, we’re going review all the options to help you pick the best senior dating site for your needs. We’ll break down pros, cons, pricing, who each is best for, and show you how to get started with free trials.

If you’re ready to get back out there, let’s take a look at the best senior dating apps! Here’s a list of the online dating services we’ll be reviewing:

Seniors are loving what eharmony is offering

eharmony dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

When it comes to picking out a dating website as a senior, there are unique things that you need. Unfortunately, most dating apps are run by young people whose hearts are in the right place, but they just don’t understand the nuances of dating as a senior. Thankfully, eharmony does not fall into the camp.

As one of the dating apps that has been around the longest, eharmony has learned to serve seniors with what they need. Here are three quick ways they do that and why we are confident eharmony is the best dating option for seniors.

  • eharmony works on a desktop or from a mobile phone. If technology isn’t your strong suit, this user-friendly website is ready to work from any platform you’re comfortable with.
  • There are lots of senior singles. The website was started by Dr. Neil Warren, who was the face of the marketing for many years. As Dr. Warren is now 89 years old (around 70 when he started eharmony), this means eharmony’s marketing has always included a distinguished, gray-haired gentleman center stage. As you can guess, this means it has and will continue to attract more senior singles.
  • The process is simple. New dating apps are all about bells and whistles and new features. For seniors, this just means confusion and a harder time figuring things out. eharmony, thankfully, has stuck to the tried and true matchmaking processes it has always used. Yes, it uses some new technology, but that is all behind the scenes so it’s nothing new for you to learn—just better results.

If you want to try what we feel is the best dating website for seniors, use the link below to try it out for free right now.

SilverSingles continues to deliver a top-notch 50+ dating experience

Silver Singles dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

With a marked increase in seniors who are dating over the past two decades, it makes sense that certain dating apps are choosing to solely offer service to seniors. As you’ll see in the remainder of this page we’ve reviewed a LOT of options and can confidently say that when it comes to dating sites for seniors, SilverSingles takes the cake as the flagship option.

SilverSingles markets itself as the premier 50+ exclusive dating site on the market. But what is it doing to earn that title and find good matches for it’s users? The first key thing is a detailed questionnaire that learns who you are and what you’re looking for in a partner.

It factors in points like intelligence, ethnic preferences, beliefs, your relationship goals, distance you’re willing to travel, how much time you want to spend with your partner, and more. This helps this senior dating site not not only find you singles similar in age, but also matches that will have a higher chance of being compatible. The downside is that this questionnaire is very extensive so it will take some time. (You’ll want to set aside at least 15-20 minutes, but we think it’s worth doing for what you get).

But a bunch of questions isn’t all that makes this senior dating app stand out. To help weed out anyone looking to waste your valuable time, SilverSingles has made is so that only premium members can see your photos and message you. Online romance scams are a real problem so we’re glad to see this site protecting its users in this way. (Also – the price of membership has recently dropped!)

What we like most about SilverSingles is that it’s truly a dating site designed for seniors with helpful features and resources catering to your specific needs. This includes things like extra customer service help, a dating site that works on all platforms (including your smart phone, tablet, or computer), the ability to zoom in the screen and still function (in case you have any vision challenges), and options for everything form finding new friends to something serious.

If you’re new to senior dating and want an option that truly understands seniors, SilverSingles is ready for you. We honestly can’t recommend it enough.

Christian seniors looking for love can use Higher Bond on any device they’re comfortable with

Higher Bond dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

If we’re going to review dating apps for older people we’ve got to consider a least one Christian option. For many seniors, faith is an important part of their lives , and whether or not you’ve been a Christian your entire life or you just found your way recently, it may be something that matters to you when selecting a partner. If that’s you, then sign up and get your age preferences set—Higher Bond is where you want to be.

Higher Bond Match Preferences Ages 59 to 75 selected

While this Christian dating site is open to users of all ages, there’s a lot for seniors to be excited.

  • For one, a large percentage of the userbase is in the older demographic (50+).
  • Second, the ease of use is meticulously designed to assist with seniors who might not be the best with technology .
  • Third, it’s a mature and wholesome environment that’s focused on singles who value faith in the courtship process.
  • And lastly, this is currently a 100% free senior dating site! (They’re running a 2023 free promo – a full year!)

For single seniors who want a Christian relationship, Higher Bond is probably right senior dating site for you.

Senior Match works as a good second option

Senior Match dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

When you hear “exclusive senior dating site” you’re probably thinking “well great, that means I get to sit on a waiting list forever”. Thankfully we’re not talking about that kind of exclusivity here. Senior Match is another dating site for seniors but unlike some of the others on this list, it’s exclusively for seniors. For example…

On SilverSingles you can still join if you’re under 50 years old, but Senior Match is actually exclusive to those 40 years of age or older. You literally can’t create an account unless you’re at least 40 years old.

Senior match no one under 40 screenshot

According to the company’s homepage, there are over 1 million senior singles using this dating site (6,000 daily active members, and 1.6 million monthly conversations). Even if this weren’t a senior dating site and it were open to all ages, those are impressive numbers. Your options for relationship goals on Senior Match are dating, companionship, travel mate, and activity partner. We’re big fans of the truly senior-focused goal options.

The only real drawback we could find with Senior Match is that the website does feel a little antiquated. However, it still works great. And hey, who are we to get mad at something that works great but looks a little older?

While Jdate is for all ages, Jewish seniors can easily sort by age

Jdate dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

Launched in 1997, Jdate is not only the best dating site for Jewish seniors, but without contest the best Jewish dating app overall . In fact, an independent study revealed that over 50% of Jewish marriages that started online started at Jdate.

Of course, the most obvious point that makes this senior dating site stand out from the others is it’s base in Judaism, which despite a rise in intermarriage in Jewish communities still remains a fundamental aspect of dating and relationship decisions for many. But maybe that and the titles and the pages of success stories from Jewish seniors like these don’t sway you?

Examples of Jewish Seniors Who Met and Got Married Using JDate

Well, If you’ve read to his point you’ve probably realized that seniors are more served in online dating than you may have realized. Any senior dating site worth the price of admission has easy to use filters to narrow down exactly what age range you’re looking for (and JDate is no exception).

JDate Discovery Preferences Screenshot

But there are two more reasons we think Jewish seniors should consider giving this dating app a serious look.

  • First, You can start using JDate completely free . Check it out, see if you like it, and if not you’ll never pay a single cent.
  • Secondly, it’s one of the most user friendly dating apps on the market (even if you’re not tech-savvy you’ll do great!)

Singles50 may not be a great fit due to bugs and technical challenges

Singles50 dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

In recent times this dating site for seniors has gotten some attention even being recommended by names as big as Forbes. Naturally we took notice and had to test it out ourselves… and for the sake of our readers we’re glad we did. Here’s what we found…

The signup process, while unique and innovative, was a bit buggy and we feel many will find it to be difficult to complete (even if their server decides to cooperate with you).

Screenshot of Singles50 Server Error During Signup

Things don’t get much better once you’re inside. The features are nothing overly special and yet the site costs as much as premium brands. And while we didn’t personally pay to use this we read plenty of user reviews that reported issues calling the senior dating service a scam.

One other weird thing that stood out to us was that the site has badges that claim they use Let’s Encrypt and Norton to secure their product. Not only could we not click to verify as it says on the icon, but looking into the security certificates ourselves we noticed that they don’t in fact use either of these brands. In short…

User reviews are probably right. The positive reviews of this senior dating app are either being paid off or just not doing good research.

DateMyAge is new but still hasn’t proven itself for senior singles

Date My Age dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

If you’re looking for casual or international dating then this last senior dating app may be worth a look, but overall we don’t suspect that many readers would enjoy what this brand has to offer. Despite some pretty intentional branding towards this being a dating site for older singles we’ve found that a lot of the users on DateMyAge are on the younger side as you’ll see in the screenshot below:

Screenshot of Singles at DateMyAge

From what we can tell this is mostly for younger singles that are looking to match with older and more established people. If you’d like to learn more we have a full DateMyAge review that can answer any further questions you may have about cost, features, or how to sign up… but for the purpose of this page we’re going to just say this senior dating site is a swing and a miss.

Tinder for seniors? This one seems like a big miss for us.

Tinder for Seniors dating app for seniors screenshot and header text

The homepage of this senior dating site makes 2 distinct statements. First that they are the best senior dating app, and second that they are in no way affiliated with popular dating app tinder . Well, there was a lot of search traffic around this brand so we thought we’d sign up and poke around to see how it worked.

Long story short Tinder for Seniors is no more. The site will let you complete signup, but as soon as you do you’ll find that you’re actually on Senior Match. We couldn’t find anything public to verify this, but it would seem that the SuccessfulMatch company silently acquired Tinder for Seniors and are now redirecting traffic to their own project (Senior Match).

All in all this is probably for the best given what most user reviews of Tinder for Seniors looked like.

Why these sites truly are the best senior dating sites

Online dating can be scary for anyone, but especially so for single seniors who might not be the most comfortable with technology. This can also make it hard to know which options you should trust and which might not be the right fit for you. We wanted to share a little bit about how we came up with these rankings. Here are just a few of the main factors that went into selecting these senior dating sites for our listing.

Trusted Websites with a Proven Track Record of Success

When it comes to dating online at any age, being safe should be your top priority . And when you’re not as accustomed to using technology, it becomes even that much more important. Data shows that those in the 60 and older age bracket are the most susceptible to online romance scams . The best senior dating sites understand that it’s there job to create an environment that’s safe for you and safe for the singles you’re hoping to meet.

Special Features to Help You Find Other Senior Singles

A senior dating site shouldn’t be so complex that it’s hard to use. Sure, it’s nice to have some features that help to find exactly what you’re looking for, but not it’s too confusing. Our picks for the top senior dating sites have just enough features to help you succeed without overcomplicating the process. As long as you can create a profile, search and find matches, and send messages—you’re all set. You shouldn’t have to call your kids or get one of the neighbors to walk you through how to use these dating websites. It’s also a wonderful learning experience for seniors to conquer things like this on their own.

Websites that Work on Newer and Older Mobile Phones, Tablets, and Computers

A lot of dating apps are designed for younger people, and they typically only work on the newest, latest, and greatest phones and technology. For the younger folks, that’s great. However, what happens if you aren’t someone who updates your phone or computer that often? Well, we think you should still have just the same opportunity to find what you’re looking for. All of the senior dating sites we recommend work on more devices than the other options out there, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility.

Keeping yourself safe when dating as a senior

As experienced citizens of this Earth, we know the importance of keeping ourselves safe with anything we do. We know that this is especially true when it comes to computers and using the internet. If we follow a few simple guidelines, we can ensure that our time dating online is going to be fun, exciting, and safe from the dangers that are out there.

You may be brand new to computers, or you may be very experienced with them. You may be making this journey on your own or getting some help from the kids or grandkids. Either way, you’re going to be in good hands with these senior dating sites (and our help). Being safe online as a senior single comes down to a few important things.

Make sure that you join a reputable site that you can trust.

This is the most important online dating tip that we can give you. If you make sure to spend your time online somewhere safe, then you are much less likely to have any trouble. To help you find reliable dating sites for older people, our team of expert reviewers (of all ages) have searched the web and reviewed as many of the options for seniors that we could find. We looked through them to see how trustworthy they are and have compiled the list of our favorites at the top of this guide.

If you choose to date online with one of these sites, we are sure that you’re going to have a great time and don’t have much to worry about. Are there still things you have to be careful of? Of course, but it’s going to be far less likely that you have any trouble.

Make sure you don’t give out too much personal information.

Sadly, online there are a lot of scam artists that try and prey on older citizens . They seem to think that we are vulnerable to their new-age tactics and aren’t smart enough to stay one step ahead of them. Lucky for you and bad for them, we’ve got you covered.

Protect your personal information at all costs. A potential date never needs more than your first name to set up a date. If you want, you can give them your phone number, but that’s all they would need until you meet them and see that they are someone you can trust. Even then, most of the senior dating sites we’ve recommended can be used to chat all the way up until the first date if you want to be really safe.

NEVER give out any banking or credit card information to potential matches.

Never give out your birthday, social security number, or anything else. Be careful that you’re not sharing information that is your security questions (like your birthday, or your dog’s name, etc.). Eventually, as you learn to trust someone new, you can lower your guard, but you should be protected at first until you reach that point.

We don’t tell you any of these tips to scare you away from dating online. It’s a fantastic way for seniors and experienced citizens to find love and someone else their age to have fun with. We just want to make sure that you do things safely, and that way you can have an awesome experience with senior dating sites.

Use your intuition.

Online dating is going to feel different at first. Things are a lot different than they were the last time you were dating. That being said, you’re someone who has lived a full life, and you have a wealth of personal experience. Your filter for what is right and what is wrong is not to be discounted. This means that you should use your intuition you’ve trained over the years when you meet senior singles.

If something doesn’t feel right, then it probably isn’t right. If you ever feel worried or uncomfortable about something, contact the dating site’s support right away and ask for help. When you buy a membership, you’re also paying for those people to help you in your search. This most certainly includes keeping you safe and protected.
