Pokemon Go A Route to New Friendships Special Research tasks & rewards

If you’re looking to participate in Pokemon Go’s Along the Routes event, here’s everything you’ll need to do for the Special Research.

With the introduction of the Timeless Travels season, Niantic has revealed several events occurring throughout the month of December. One of those is Along the Routes , which will focus on the game’s Routes feature.

The event will run from Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10 AM local time and end on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 8 PM local time . Additionally, it will introduce Mateo – Pokemon Go’s brand-new NPC.

• Explore 1 km – Lillipup

• Earn a Candy exploring with your buddy – Razz Berry x5

All Pokémon Go Battle Week Timed Research tasks and rewards

When completing Timed Research in Pokémon Go , you only have a short amount of time to do every task to earn the rewards. There’s a Timed Research available during the Pokémon Go World Championships 2024 event called Battle Week , focusing on Battle League matches.

This Timed Research is available to all Pokémon Go players for a limited time. You’ll need to create a team to compete in these competitions. Still, multiple options are available to you, such as participating in the Master League, Ultra League, Great League, or the exclusive Catch Cup in Pokémon Go . Thankfully for trainers, there are no requirements for winning these matches; you can merely participate.

How to complete Pokémon Go Battle Week Timed Research

The Battle Week event coincides with the Pokémon Go World Championships 2024 event, from Aug. 16 to 20 . Throughout the weekend, there will be several Timed Research codes for you to unlock, but this is the first one you can get for free without having to watch a stream of Pokémon’s World Championships on Twitch.

For Battle Week, when the event goes live in your local area, head over to the Battle page to challenge other players. You can complete using a Master League , Ultra League , Great League , or Catch Cup team. For those only fighting against other players in Pokémon Go to complete this Timed Research, I recommend focusing on the Great League as this will be the easiest for you to complete and won’t have too much of a learning curve.

These are all the tasks and rewards you get for completing Pokémon Go’s Battle Week Timed Research during the World Championships 2024 event.

All task 1 completion rewards : Three Rare Candies, an Elite Charged TM, and a Lana Hat for the Male and Female avatars.

Of the tasks, using 10 super-effective Charged Attacks could be the toughest as you have to anticipate what Pokémon an opponent will use against you. I recommend focusing on challenging Team Rocket Grunts or Leaders for this one as you should have a good idea of what Pokémon they’ll use before you create your team in Pokémon Go .

Pokémon Go World Championships 2024: How to get Timed Research codes

Pokémon Go players can earn themselves up to three redemption codes during the upcoming World Championships 2024. Unlike most Pokémon Go codes , which provide cosmetics or the ever useful consumables, these codes will grant players access to Timed Research Tasks.

All three codes will unlock different Timed Research Tasks with a variety of rewards:

Day 1’s Timed Research Tasks will reward you with a Sableye knowing Shadow Claw and Foul Play, an Elite Charged TM, and other items. In addition, this code will activate a bonus running until August 31, 2024, which guarantees all Sableye caught during this time to know Shadow Claw and Foul Play. It also provides an additional Candy XL as a 3-Star Shadow Raid reward.

Day 2’s Timed Research Tasks focus on Pokémon that might come in handy for your next duels in Great League . Your options will be:

• Dunsparce, Mantine, and Pancham
• Galarian Weezing, Skorupi, and Chespin
• Jigglypuff, Shellos, and Inkay

In addition, Stardust and other rewards will be up for grabs.

Day 3’s Timed Research Tasks contain an encounter with Pikachu (World Championships 2024) among other rewards.

Pokémon Go: How to get codes via Twitch Drops

You’ll need an account on streaming platform Twitch as well as the Pokémon Trainer Club to get Pokémon Go codes via Twitch Drops, so make sure you have both of these. Afterwards, follow these steps:

• Link your Twitch and Pokémon Trainer Club accounts via the official website .
• Watch an eligible livestream for 30 minutes.
• Claim your code in your Twitch inventory and then find it on the website linked in Step 1. Note that codes expire on August 26, 2024, if they’re not claimed by then.
• Redeem your code on the Pokémon Go web store .

The broadcasts eligible for Twitch Drops will run on August 16, 17, and 18, 2024, starting at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST / 9pm CEST. 

For Day 1 and Day 2 codes, watch the official Pokémon Go Twitch channel . For Day 3 codes, watch any of the streamers listed on the official website .

Minimizing your window will stop the progress towards getting your Twitch Drop, but you can simply mute and put the stream on your second monitor or have it running in the background while playing something else.

Sierra is one of three Team GO Rocket Leaders that Trainers can encounter and battle with a Rocket Radar in Pokémon GO , alongside Cliff and Arlo. These three boss fights are very difficult if you don't come prepared, so if you're taking on Sierra, it's important to know her current lineup, their weaknesses, and the best counters to beat them all.

As part of the Adventure Week: Taken Over event in August 2024, the lineups of Team GO Rocket members have been shaken up. Sierra is no exception, with some powerful Shadow Pokémon like Carvanha, Ampharos, and Houndoom having the potential to appear on her team. As long as you take the best team possible into battle, though, you should be able to emerge a winner.

Be Prepared For Battle

Sierra will always send the Dark/Water-type Carvanha into battle first, which makes this a fairly easy stage to prepare for. However, her second and third Pokémon can be one of three different options, so planning ahead for these will be a little more difficult. What you can do, though, is put together a strong team that has as much coverage as possible for the best shot at success.

You can see Sierra's full potential lineup (thanks to LeekDuck for the help with this information), their weaknesses, and the best counters to defeat them in the table below:

Remember, Sierra will only send out one Pokémon from each wave. These will be chosen at random, but once you've started a battle with her at a specific PokéStop or Rocket Balloon, her team will remain the same when you rematch her. Think of your first battle as a reconnaissance mission where your main goal isn't to defeat her, but to figure out which Pokémon she's using. This will help you put the right team together.

Gardevoir, Mamoswine & Electivire

One of the best teams you can use to beat Sierra in Pokémon GO right now is Gardevoir, Mamoswine, and Electivire . There's no such thing as a perfect team, as that will always depend on which lineup she uses, but these three Pokémon have coverage against the majority of Sierra's potential team.

A powerful Fairy-type Pokémon like Gardevoir should be first up on your team, as this can take out Sierra's guaranteed first Pokémon, Carvanha, as well as wave two's Sableye, which is only vulnerable to Fairy-type attacks.

Next up, it's important to have a strong Ground-type Pokémon, because Sierra's wave two Pokémon could be Ampharos, which is only weak to Ground-type attacks. Mamoswine is a good shout here, as it can also defeat two of Sierra's potential wave three team members: Houndoom and Nidoqueen. Your final team member is up for debate, but a good Electric-type like Electivire can take on Milotic as well as Carvanha if needed.

The only Pokémon not covered by this team is wave two's Alakazam, but if Sierra does send that Psychic-type into battle, you can switch Electivire out for a Dark-type Pokémon like Hydreigon and battle her again. You can rematch as many times as you want using a single Rocket Radar, so don't worry about losing on your first few attempts. Keep trying different teams and you'll get there.

Some other ideal teams for taking on Sierra would be Togekiss, Garchomp, and Magnzeone , or Xerneas, Excadrill, and Xurkitree .

Catch A Shadow Pokémon

The main reward for defeating Sierra is a chance to catch her team's first Pokémon, which in this case is a Shadow Carvanha . Being a Shadow Pokémon makes it more powerful in battle, and there's also a chance you could encounter a Shiny variant, too. Unfortunately, both Carvanha and its evolution Sharpedo are quite useless in the Pokémon GO Battle League and as attackers in Raid Battles , so it's not the most exciting reward.

Still, it's a chance to add another Shadow Pokémon to your collection. Other rewards include a handful of Stardust, as well as some random items, which could include an Unova Stone . Finally, if you have a slot free in your Egg storage, you'll get a 12 KM Egg, also known as a Strange Egg. These red-spotted Eggs have some of the rarest hatches in Pokémon GO , including Salandit, Larvitar, and Varoom.

Charizard Evolve Charmeleon (Charmander’s Evolution) to get a Charizard that knows the Charged Attack Blast Burn.

Blastoise Evolve Wartortle (Squirtle’s Evolution) to get a Blastoise that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon.

Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto Region will appear in specific Biomes.

Forest Biome

The forest biome is home to Pokémon first discovered in Kanto such as Bulbasaur, Caterpie, Weedle, Oddish, and more.

Mountain Biome

The mountain biome is home to Sandshrew, Clefairy, Zubat, Diglett, and more.

Beach Biome

The beach biome is home to Squirtle, Psyduck, Seel, Magikarp, and more.

The city biome is home to Caterpie, Pidgey, Machop, Gastly, and more.
