Short Essay on Travelling As A Hobby 300 Words for Kids and Students in English
“Travel in the youngest sort,” says Bacon, “Is a part of education; in the elder, a part of experience.” Some may think otherwise. To them, visiting churches and monasteries, castles and fortifications, antiques and ruins as well as libraries and colleges is a sheer waste of time. They may further say that one could read the accounts of these or watch the movies that cover the important places of the world. They forget that the touch of living and breathing reality gives a different type of sensation and satisfaction.
Travelling may be an expensive hobby but it compensates for the financial loss. If a traveller has interest in life and its manifestations, he can explore a lot to keep himself absorbed and happy. A student of sociology can gather much from the customs and rituals of life of the people living in different regions of the world. A student of history can discover a vivid account of history in the historical monuments. An engineer can enrich his knowledge by looking at the engineering feats at different places. In fact, one can find everything that satisfies one’s intellectual and adventurous cravings.
As a hobby, travelling keeps us busy during leisure; it is the best method to utilise time. Until a person breaks from the dull routine, physically and mentally, he cannot find satisfaction; travelling helps us to achieve this break and rejuvenates us. At a new place, one is curious to know and eager to gather information. He gets thrills and surprises that keep his interests alive.
While travelling, one comes across a large number of people. In case one has a psychological bent of mind one increases one’s experience and power to understand others. Understanding human nature is perhaps the best part of education. Travelling satisfies all the demands of a good hobby; it is absorbing, educative and refreshing for the mind and the body.

Editor’s Note: We know that many of you are looking for help writing travel experience essays for school or simply writing about a trip for your friends or family. To inspire you and help you write your next trip essay—whether it’s an essay about a trip with family or simply a way to remember your best trip ever (so far)—we enlisted the help of Professor Kathleen Boardman, whose decades of teaching have helped many college students learn the fine art of autobiography and life writing. Here’s advice on how to turn a simple “my best trip” essay into a story that will inspire others to explore the world.
Welcome home! Now that you’re back from your trip, you’d like to share it with others in a travel essay. You’re a good writer and a good editor of your work, but you’ve never tried travel writing before. As your potential reader, I have some advice and some requests for you as you write your travel experience essay.
Trip Essays: What to Avoid
Please don’t tell me everything about your trip. I don’t want to know your travel schedule or the names of all the castles or restaurants you visited. I don’t care about the plane trip that got you there (unless, of course, that trip is the story).
I have a friend who, when I return from a trip, never asks me, “How was your trip?” She knows that I would give her a long, rambling answer: “… and then … and then … and then.” So instead, she says, “Tell me about one thing that really stood out for you.” That’s what I’d like you to do in this travel essay you’re writing.
The Power of Compelling Scenes
One or two “snapshots” are enough—but make them great. Many good writers jump right into the middle of their account with a vivid written “snapshot” of an important scene. Then, having aroused their readers’ interest or curiosity, they fill in the story or background. I think this technique works great for travel writing; at least, I would rather enjoy a vivid snapshot than read through a day-to-day summary of somebody’s travel journal.
Write About a Trip Using Vivid Descriptions
Take your time. Tell a story. So what if you saw things that were “incredible,” did things that were “amazing,” observed actions that you thought “weird”? These words don’t mean anything to me unless you show me, in a story or a vivid description, the experience that made you want to use those adjectives.
I’d like to see the place, the people, or the journey through your eyes, not someone else’s. Please don’t rewrite someone else’s account of visiting the place. Please don’t try to imitate a travel guide or travelogue or someone’s blog or Facebook entry. You are not writing a real travel essay unless you are describing, as clearly and honestly as possible, yourself in the place you visited. What did you see, hear, taste, say? Don’t worry if your “take” on your experience doesn’t match what everyone else says about it. (I’ve already read what THEY have to say.)
The Importance of Self-Editing Your Trip Essay
Don’t give me your first draft to read. Instead, set it aside and then reread it. Reread it again. Where might I need more explanation? What parts of your account are likely to confuse me? (After all, I wasn’t there.) Where might you be wasting my time by repeating or rambling on about something you’ve already told me?
Make me feel, make me laugh, help me learn something. But don’t overdo it: Please don’t preach to me about broadening my horizons or understanding other cultures. Instead, let me in on your feelings, your change of heart and mind, even your fear and uncertainty, as you confronted something you’d never experienced before. If you can, surprise me with something I didn’t know or couldn’t have suspected.
You Can Do It: Turning Your Trip into a Great Travel Experience Essay
I hope you will take yourself seriously as a traveler and as a writer. Through what—and how—you write about just a small portion of your travel experience, show me that you are an interesting, thoughtful, observant person. I will come back to you, begging for more of your travel essays.

Essay On Summer Vacation For Children And Students – 10 Lines, Short & Long Essay
- Key Points to Remember When Writing An Essay on Summer Vacation
- 10 Lines on Summer Vacation
- Paragraph On Summer Vacation
Short Essay On Summer Vacation
Long essay on summer vacation, what will your child learn while writing an essay on summer vacation.
Summer vacations are every student’s favourite time of the year. Children eagerly wait for months for their summer vacation to start and do all the fun things they have planned with their friends, siblings and families. It is the school term’s longest vacation of the year, so students enjoy a good break from their daily routine. They can sleep late, spend more time playing with their friends, go on holidays with their family or use the time to learn something new. While they get a break from the regular classes, students get homework from their teachers to be completed during the holidays. A commonly assigned holiday homework is to write an essay on summer vacation. While older kids may find it easy to write on this subject, younger children of classes 1, 2 and 3 may find it tricky to express themselves on pen and paper.
Here are some samples of summer vacation essays in English that will help young kids write this essay independently.
Key Points to Remember When Writing An Essay on Summer Vacation
Before children start writing about their summer vacation, they should know what to include in the essay. Here are some ideas that will help them in the assignment:
- Describe what summer vacation means for you.
- List the reasons why you like it.
- Write about the activities you did in your summer vacation.
- Write about the places you visited during your summer break.
- Write about the people you met during your summer vacation.
10 Lines on Summer Vacation
Younger children may find it easier to compose an essay by breaking it into simple sentences. They can start by writing their ideas in individual sentences and then sequentially arranging them to form a complete paragraph. Here is an example of how to write a summer vacation essay in 10 lines:
- Summer vacations are my favourite time of the year as I can do all the things I enjoy during these days.
- During these holidays, I get a chance to learn new hobbies like painting, dancing or gardening and spend more time with my friends.
- During my summer vacations, I visit my grandparents, who live in a village.
- All my cousins visit my grandparents during the summer holidays and together, we have a lot of fun!
- My grandparents have a beautiful garden, and they teach us gardening.
- My grandmother is an excellent cook and makes lots of delicious dishes for us every day.
- In the evening, all of us cousins listen to stories from our grandmother.
- We play many games like carrom, hide-and-seek and ludo.
- We also paint, draw and do our summer homework during the afternoons.
- Every year I enjoy my summer holidays with my cousins and grandparents.
Paragraph On Summer Vacation
Small paragraphs are a great way to teach kids how to communicate their thoughts concisely. Here is an example of how you can write a ‘my summer vacation’ paragraph:
Summer vacation is a highly anticipated time for many people, especially students. After a long and often stressful school year, summer offers a welcome break to relax, recharge, and enjoy the warmer weather. During this time, people can take trips, spend time outdoors, participate in fun activities, and create lasting memories with family and friends. Whether it’s a week-long getaway, a day at the beach, or simply lounging in the backyard, summer vacation provides a chance to step away from the daily grind and embrace the carefree spirit of the season. For many, this seasonal break is a cherished time to rejuvenate the mind and body before returning to the responsibilities of the next academic or work year.
Writing a short paragraph about summer vacation in English can be daunting for students of lower primary classes. They are still learning to form sentences, so expressing their views in a section may be difficult. This short summer vacation essay sample will help them through the assignment:
Summer vacations are my favourite time of year because I get to do all the activities I enjoy. During these vacations, I also get the opportunity to learn new things and spend more time with my friends. I visit my grandparents during my summer vacations, who live in a far-off village. During the summer holidays, all of my cousins visit my grandparents, and we have a lot of fun together. My grandparents have a lovely garden, and they teach us how to plant saplings and water the plants. My grandma is a fantastic cook who prepares various delectable dishes for us daily. All of us cousins gather to listen to our grandmother’s stories in the evenings. During the day, we play games like carrom, hide-and-seek, and ludo. All this fun makes summer vacation my most enjoyable time of the year.
Students in grade 3 are adept at writing sentences. However, they may still find it challenging to write a descriptive essay about ‘ M y S ummer V acation. ’ Here is a sample essay on summer vacation class 3 students:
Advantages of Summer Vacation
Summer vacations are the happiest time for all students. During this time, they get freedom from getting up early for school and doing homework. They also get to sleep late and wake up late with no classes to attend in the morning. Summer vacation starts just after commencing a new grade or after the final exams, making it the perfect time for students to relax after loads of studying. So, it’s no wonder every student anticipates summer vacations every year.
Most of us have elaborate plans on how we will spend our vacations. Some kids plan to go on holidays with their families, while some take up new hobbies or visit their grandparents or relatives they can’t meet during school days. And some kids get to do all of these things during their summer vacations.
My Summer Vacation
I am one such lucky kid as my parents take me to visit my grandparents’ house in the village every summer vacation. There, I get to meet my cousins, uncles and aunts. Together we all spend a few days enjoying relaxed village life.
During the day, I play many games with my cousins, and we complete our school holiday homework. In the evenings, we help our grandfather in the garden. We water the plants and learn to plant new saplings. At night, my grandmother tells us interesting stories. She is also an excellent cook. We all get to enjoy her delicious dishes daily. My aunt is a good painter. Every year, she teaches drawing and painting to all of us kids. We also go to a nearby dance school to learn dancing.
After spending a few days with my grandparents and cousins, my parents take me on holiday. Every year, we visit different tourist places, and this year, we plan to go to Goa and spend a few days enjoying the sun, sand and the sea . We plan on exploring the lush waters while trying out some fun new water sports and activities. We also want to walk around old Goa, taking in the architecture and natural beauty and shop from street vendors. We usually return home a few days before the summer vacation ends. I use that tim e to complete my school work and prepare my books for the school reopening. I also spend time playing with my neighbourhood friends in the evening. We all enjoy playing cricket in the colony playground.
Places To Visit During Summer Vacation
Here are some of my favourite places to visit during summer vacation:
- Goa: Known for its beautiful beaches, water sports, and vibrant culture, Goa is an ideal destination to enjoy the summer sun.
- Mysore: Mysore is a city in Karnataka famous for its palaces, temples, and wildlife sanctuaries.
- Darjeeling: Darjeeling is a hill station in West Bengal, famous for its tea plantations and toy train.
- Kerala: The Kerala backwaters are a network of waterways that offer kids a unique experience.
- Andaman And Nicobar Islands: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a tropical paradise known for their pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine biodiversity.
While writing an essay on summer vacation, your child will improve their English vocabulary and grammar. To express their views and write about their activities during holidays, they will have to learn new words and improve their sentence construction. Once they write their essay, they will grasp how to write about related activities, giving them the confidence to write compositions more easily.

You need not only to start your paper strongly but also conclude it effectively. Sum up key ideas and include a call to action. Feel free to restate a thesis to do that.
What Else You Can Do: Improve Your Essay About Traveling
To enhance your traveling essay, use these tried and tested tricks:
- Use images.
- Avoid clichés and formal language.
- Avoid assumptions.
- Specify your story.
Avoid clichés or formal language to make your piece of writing sound more natural. Be sure to use only original and meaningful descriptions and let readers understand everything with ease. Use images in your thematic essay about traveling experience because visual descriptions are an effective way to make the audience understand your story. They bring the audience closer to it. Use breathtaking pictures because they’ll stick in people’s mind for a long time. There are certain errors that many students do when completing this academic assignment. Failing to specify a story about traveling is one of them. Cover minor details to make your paper interesting. Making assumptions is another common error that students make. You need to get facts about a specific place. Assumptions only tell readers a false story. Don’t assume if you aren’t sure about details.
Key Points When Writing a College Essay About Traveling
Keep these basic points in mind when writing your essay about why traveling is important:
- Take a prompt question into account when reading relevant sources of information.
- Before you start writing a rough draft, outline what you will say, what evidence you want to use, and how you’ll structure all paragraphs.
- Use the essay introduction to state your thesis and outline major ideas.
- Include only the facts relevant to your topic because using irrelevant information won’t bring you high grades.
- Ensure that every point is clear because readers shouldn’t be puzzled over your words.
- Use plain and simple language to make strong points and avoid writing confusing or complex sentences. Verbosity will only frustrate teachers. Use a readability tool to make your writing easy-to-comprehend.
- Demonstrate your awareness of relevant materials.
- Make sure all paragraphs are in their coherent order with smooth transitions.
The above-stated secrets will help you write a brilliant essay about traveling. If you still find this task challenging, pay for an essay at StudyCrumb and get proficient help from academic writers. They will solve all of your problems easily.

4 Amazing Ways Travel Rewards Cards Have Changed How I Travel
Published on Aug. 10, 2024
By: Lyle Daly
- My travel cards get me into airport lounges, and I use my points to fly in business class and first class.
- Hotel cards have helped me stay at luxury hotels without breaking the bank.
- Since I'm saving money on flights and hotels, I can put more of my travel budget toward experiences.
When I was younger, I wasn't much of a traveler. I didn't like waiting in airports or feeling uncomfortable in a tight airline seat. I pretty much only took trips to see family, and I didn't enjoy the travel experience itself.
Then, I heard about travel rewards cards . It seemed cool to be able to travel in style, without needing to spend a ton of money. I started opening travel cards, and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Thanks to my credit cards, I've been able to make some huge changes to how I travel.
1. I fly business class or first class on every flight
Now that I have a healthy balance of travel points, I fly first class (or business class on international flights) every trip. While these tickets are expensive if you book them in cash, they're much more affordable if you have points you can transfer to the airline. After that, you just book the ticket in miles instead of cash, and you're only responsible for the taxes and fees.
2. I get to relax before flights in airport lounges
The first time I heard about airport lounges, I was amazed. All this time, there have been lounges with comfortable seating, free food, and free drinks? I don't need to sit in a rock-hard chair and pay an absurd amount for a snack?
I made sure that the first travel card I opened had airport lounge access. This is a popular perk on travel cards with expensive annual fees -- the cards I've found with lounge access cost $395 a year and up.
While that's a lot to pay for a credit card , it can be worth it if you're a frequent flyer. Keep in mind that these cards have plenty of other benefits, in addition to lounge access, that can help balance out what they cost.
3. I've stayed at luxury hotels
In the past, luxury hotels weren't in my budget. Since I hadn't stayed at any, I didn't know what the big deal was. I was fine staying at affordable Airbnbs.
I've since learned to appreciate how much staying at a great hotel can improve a trip. It's convenient having a quality on-site restaurant when you want to go grab a meal or order room service. Staying in a beautiful room that gets cleaned every day is always nice, too.
Hotel credit cards have been a huge help in staying at luxury properties. My hotel card gets me complimentary elite status with my favorite hotel chain, a free night award every year, and points that I can redeem for more free nights. I recently used it to save over $2,500 on a stay at a five-star hotel.
4. I have more money for experiences on my trips
Airfare and accommodations are two of the biggest travel costs. I usually pay for at least one of those with my travel rewards. On many trips, I use points to cover the flight and a hotel.
When you're not paying cash for airfare and accommodations, you can put your entire travel budget toward what you do on your trip. Maybe you want to go parasailing, splurge at a clothing store, or dine at a fancy restaurant. Most people can only spend so much on vacation, so it's fun to be able to spend it all on activities.
With my travel cards, I can travel more, and I get more enjoyment out of each trip. If you like to travel, or you've always dreamed of doing it more, I'd highly recommend getting this type of card.

One thing to consider is the time of arrival in Tanzania. Turkish and Emirates both landed very early in the morning, and exhausted passengers off those flights were sprawled all over the hotel lobby while we had breakfast. Some people apparently leave on safari directly from the airport, but I would have spent my first day on safari asleep in the car if I had done that.
Flight timings matter as well. If there is a big time gap between connecting flights , then I have turned that into an overnight stop. So for example, I once had the option of a 7 hour stopover at Seoul on a trip to Europe. I decided to turn that into an overnight stopover, so that I could sleep in a proper bed, and see a bit of Seoul.
I agree that if you do fly all the way without a stopover it is best not to do too much on your arrival day. I spend time outdoors getting sunlight which helps to adjust to the new timezone. But the lack of sleep does catch up with me after flying 20+ hours, so the arrival day is a day when I do not have any major sightseeing planned.
I do long hauls like that frequently and always fly straight through. Rather than wasting a jetlagged day or two visiting somewhere on the way, add a couple more days at your destination.

Traveling Story in English
Reading stories with pictures and morals to children will help them develop good character. It will also increase their interest in reading.
Read the story about a boy who wanted to travel the world but learnt his lesson.
Think before you say anything.
An Amazing Short Story About Travelling
Hello kids, here we have an interesting traveling story in English for you. This story is about a young boy named Liam who wants to travel the world now that his school is over. However, the boy doesn’t know what to say when he encounters different situations during his travels. This leads to a lot of problems for the young boy. Now we are going to read the story and see what happens here.
Liam Wants to Travel
There was a young boy named Liam who lived in a town with his mother. After Liam’s exams were over, he wanted to go travelling. But his mother opposed the idea saying that they didn’t have any money for both of them to travel.
Liam, the Young Boy
She said, “There is no money. Not much, not much, not much.” Liam then made the suggestion that he would go travelling alone. He assured his mother than no matter where he was, he would always say ‘Not much, not much.’ So, Liam set out on his travels. On the way, he saw a few fishermen catching fish. Liam said, “May god be with you. Not much, not much.” When the fisherman pulled the net out of the water, there were no fish in it. An angry fisherman confronted Liam about what he said. Liam simply answered that it was just a saying. He asked, “What should I say then?” The fisherman said, “You should say Catch a Lot.” Liam agreed and went on his way.
Liam Makes a Mistake Again
On his way, he saw a funeral procession and said, “May god be with you. Catch a lot.” The wife of the dead man was angry with Liam and pulled his hair. She angrily said, “Why would you say catch a lot? My husband died because he caught a deadly virus.” Liam asked her what to say and she told him to say ‘May god comfort the poor soul.’
Once again Liam goes on his way and meets a hunter trying to skin a horse. He says, “May god comfort the poor soul.” The hunter says to Liam angrily, “You think the soul of the horse is more worthy than mine? When Liam asked him what to say, the hunter replied, “Lie in the ditch, you carcass.” Liam agreed to say that and continued on his journey. Next, he met a few people travelling in a carriage. Then Liam said, “Lie in the ditch, you carcass.” The horse pulling the carriage got scared of the loud voice and started running towards the ditch. The driver of the carriage jumped down and started beating Liam with a whip.
Liam Goes Back Home
Now Liam was badly hurt and he wanted to go home. When he reached home, his mother cleaned his wounds and asked him to rest. Liam had already learnt his lesson. Sometimes, it is better to say things according to the situation.
Liam’s Mother Taking Care of Him
Learn the Moral of This Short Story About Travelling
This short story , like the other travel short stories , has a very important lesson for the children. Kids, after reading this story will learn that we should always listen to our elders. They will also learn that we should always think before we speak. There are certain situations that require us to act differently.
Saying the same thing again and again in different situations can invite a lot of trouble for a person. Like Liam, we shouldn’t keep repeating the same thing and speak accordingly. The way we speak sometimes affects the people near us and we should always be careful about that. Children will find travel short stories moral from Vedantu very helpful because these moral stories help in building a lot of character.

Donald J. Trump and his allies are planning a sweeping expansion of presidential power over the machinery of government if voters return him to the White House in 2025, reshaping the structure of the executive branch to concentrate far greater authority directly in his hands.
Their plans to centralize more power in the Oval Office stretch far beyond the former president’s recent remarks that he would order a criminal investigation into his political rival, President Biden, signaling his intent to end the post-Watergate norm of Justice Department independence from White House political control.
Mr. Trump and his associates have a broader goal: to alter the balance of power by increasing the president’s authority over every part of the federal government that now operates, by either law or tradition, with any measure of independence from political interference by the White House, according to a review of his campaign policy proposals and interviews with people close to him.
Mr. Trump intends to bring independent agencies — like the Federal Communications Commission, which makes and enforces rules for television and internet companies, and the Federal Trade Commission, which enforces various antitrust and other consumer protection rules against businesses — under direct presidential control.
He wants to revive the practice of “impounding” funds, refusing to spend money Congress has appropriated for programs a president doesn’t like — a tactic that lawmakers banned under President Richard Nixon.
He intends to strip employment protections from tens of thousands of career civil servants, making it easier to replace them if they are deemed obstacles to his agenda. And he plans to scour the intelligence agencies, the State Department and the defense bureaucracies to remove officials he has vilified as “the sick political class that hates our country.”
